#OccupySantaFe's first Oct. 1 event had approximately 75 attendees; at least three times as many people turned out Oct. 8. A third rally is scheduled for Oct. 15 at the Roundhouse.

This semester, I am teaching a course on Social Movements and Action at the Santa Fe University of Art and Design. Who knew the course would jump from the theoretical to the very present with such rapidity? Not me, but it has been interesting (for me, at least; I can’t vouch for my students) to be revisiting the anti Vietnam war era and have the #OccupyWallStreet movement “happen.” I’ve been thinking about the parallels quite a bit. In the meantime, I’ve been videotaping #OccupySantaFe‘s two events.

Here is a link to the Saturday, Oct. 8 protest in Santa Fe, as well as a piece I just wrote for Adobe Airstream on the importance of viral digital imagery for social movements.
